The ultimate teacher’s assistant.
START
Medical Education Technologies, Inc (METI) designs and manufactures human patient simulators used in medical training. METI wanted to reduce costs and obsolescence issues associated with their technology, and provide additional capabilities for future equipment upgrades. To achieve their goals, they called on Logic.
FAST FORWARD
Working with a team from METI, Logic designed a Universal Simulation Engine (USE) that was flexible enough to be used in a wide range of patient simulators. Not only did the new USE reduce costs and the potential for obsolescence, it incorporated state-of-the-art features like 24 simultaneous audio channels.
FINISH
The new system architecture and technical approach reduced costs by 40% and diminished the potential for obsolescence, and expanded the products capabilities.
WHAT OUR GROUPS DID
Embedded Product Solutions
Provided System on Module for final manufacturing and Development Kit for application development.
Electrical Engineering
The Logic Card Engine platform was used to facilitate easier application development and was paired with an FPGA to handle the real-time operations such as audio channels, ADC’s, CAC’s, motor control and I/O.
Software Engineering
Logic architected a communications interface between the FPGA and card engine to allow the Linux application to handle audio and other realtime functions with simple API’s.
Manufacturing
Manufactured electronic components.
