Logic Announces the latest Zoom™ Development Kit and System on Module (SOM)

MCIMX31LITEKIT reduces time to market for embedded Windows® CE applications

MINNEAPOLIS - December 4, 2006 - Logic Product Development (Logic) announced today the release of the Zoom Development Kit and System on Module (SOM) using Freescale Semiconductor's i.MX31 applications processor. The i.MX31 SOM is an off-the-shelf embedded computing module that provides developers with a cost effective, compact option for embedded products in the medical, industrial, wireless and consumer markets.

"Logic did a brilliant job of focusing on features that pertain to a broad set of embedded applications, including connectivity, touchscreen and audio," said Monica Hamilton, director of wireless developer relations, Freescale. "By continuing to provide cost-effective development enablers, we are giving more customers the ability to experiment with and evaluate the robustness of our i.MX processor family."

The i.MX31 SOM includes the highly integrated i.MX31 applications processor containing an ARM1136JF-STM core with the following peripherals: USB host and function, FPU (floating point unit), integrated LCD controller, PCMCIA/CF, UARTs, Secure Digital, and more. Logic's SOM i.MX31 comes complete with on board flash, low power DDR SDRAM, 10/100 Ethernet, touch screen controller, and audio codec. All of this functionality comes in a 59 mm x 76 mm compact form factor that easily meets the size requirements of most original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

"Logic's i.MX31 SOM comes complete with Windows CE software drivers that accelerate product development and time to market, allowing customers to immediately focus on their application code and other high value core technologies, that are typically the source of market differentiation and success," stated Eric Harnisch, Director of Marketing for Logic. "Our customers typically realize a six-nine month time savings in their product development cycle by integrating the SOM into their product."
